Dear Customers,

I’d like to share my latest update as we continue to support you through the ongoing challenges and impacts of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The one remaining COVID-related UNC Modification (0730V - COVID-19 Capacity Retention Process) was amended by its proposer earlier this month (a “Variation Request”). As a result, it was discussed again at the December UNC Modification Panel meeting, and a new consultation window is now open, ending on 12th January 2021. After the consultation window closes, this Modification will be voted on at Modification Panel again but will need to go to Ofgem for their final decision, as it is not following the self-governance process.

Daily gas allocation processes will continue to run over the festive period, although with many organisations operating with a reduced staff, it may take longer to resolve any allocation issues. Xoserve will continue to monitor daily Unidentified Gas (UIG) levels and will liaise with data providers when it spots possible errors, to get them corrected before Exit Close-Out (five days after the Gas Day) wherever possible. We use the Customer Notifications banner on the Xoserve.com home page to highlight any known Allocations Issues and track them through to closure. You can find the link at the top left-hand corner of the home page, or via the Notifications page on our website.

The Christmas and New Year period should not themselves be a cause of Unidentified Gas, unless we see unexpected reactions to weather or other factors. The Non-Daily Metered (NDM) profiles include adjustments for Bank Holidays and for traditional shut-down periods, based on historic data. However, we sometimes see a dip in the number of actual meter readings from Daily Metered sites, or missing data transfers that can take a little longer to resolve over the long weekends. As the balancing figure each day, UIG is susceptible to errors in any of the input data, and not just affected by NDM allocation accuracy.
