Coronavirus (COVID-19) Customer Update

The latest update as we continue to support through the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Dear customers,

I’d like to share our latest update as we continue to support you through the ongoing challenges and impacts of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Observed daily national Unidentified Gas (UIG) levels were quite low over the weekend of 17th and 18th April compared to recent months. As the balancing figure each day in each LDZ, UIG is susceptible to any data anomalies and fluctuations. Over the weekend many areas saw large swings in within-day temperatures and the NDM estimation formula can struggle to keep pace, especially in Spring and Autumn, and this is likely to be a contributing factor. In addition, with lockdown easing there are more opportunities to leave the house to socialise or shop which may have reduced domestic demand. We publish an update to the UIG tracking graphs around the middle of each week under UIG Useful Links.

If Non-Daily Metered allocations do not accurately represent actual usage, meter point reconciliation will correct this and bring UIG levels back to a more normal level. We are currently engaging with Shippers to target their sites without a meter reading on our systems for three or more years and asking them to investigate and submit readings wherever possible.
