Non-Standard Sites
What are Non-Standard Sites?
Non-Standard sites are unique gas sites that were previously maintained offline (pre Nexus) but are now managed within UK Link.
Due to the alignment of processes, these can be grouped into:
- Shared Supply Meter Point (SSMP) – both NTS and LDZ
- NTS/LDZ Telemetered
- Optional Tariff (NTS Shorthaul and LDZ Shorthaul)
- Interconnector
- Daily Metered Connected System Exit Point (DM CSEP)
- Connected System Operator (CSO) Sites
- Twin Stream (Aggregated)*
- LPG
- iGT (CSEP)**
*Twin Stream Sites complete the full list of Non-Standard Sites. This is not a new Site Type but has been created to enable the Site to be maintained in SAP.
** iGT sites have their own site type but will follow the majority of the standard sites process with limited differences, mainly, for site setup. Transportation charges are issued within the standard invoices, Capacity, Commodity, Amendment etc.
Non-Standard Site types
Shared Supply Meter Point (SSMP) - both NTS and LDZ
The SPA process flow is now used for all changes to SSMP sites, for all requests* including:-
- New Shippers
- Leaving Shippers
- Change of Agent
- Change to/from LDZ Short haul
- Change % Share
*Due to the low volumes and complexity of Shared Supply scenarios, the standard SPA process is initiated by a template submission.
NTS/LDZ Telemetered
These sites do not send readings but instead, energy values are sent directly to National Grid. Energy is then sent to Gemini. There will be a separate device against the installation. This will be the billable register.
Optional Tariff - NTS Shorthaul and LDZ Shorthaulhared
To be eligible for Optional Tariffs:
- NTS (National Transmission System) sites must be located near to an Entry Point (Terminal).
- LDZ (Local Distribution Zone) sites must be located close to the NTS pipeline.
A Site can then choose to take specific rates/charges
- NTS Sites are eligible for NTS Optional Tariffs
- LDZ Sites can have either NTS or LDZ Optional Tariffs
Both charges are calculated by applying the distances from the Terminal or the Notional NTS Entry point.
Interconnector
Site set up of an Interconnector is similar to SSMP sites, with the main difference being that each Shipper works independently of each other.
There are 3 Interconnectors:
- Bacton – Ships gas to and from Belgium
- Moffatt (IUK) – Ships gas to Ireland and ships gas from Norway
- BBL – Ships gas to and from the Netherlands
All Interconnector sites are classed as Telemetered in UKLink.
Registration to an Interconnector does not require a Nomination – it is a Confirmation only process. There is also not an objection window.
Daily Metered Connected System Exit Point (DM CSEP)
A site located on an Independent Gas Transporter (iGT)’s Network is referred to as a CSEP. Where the AQ of such a site is greater than 58,600,000 kWh, or the site is to be an Interruptible Supply Point (DNI), it must be a DM CSEP.
Connected System Operator (CSO) sites
These sites are CSEP Sites that operate under a different Transporter license to an iGT. The Network will request the set up of the CSEP project and the related MPRN creation details.
Twin stream
A Twin stream site will have more than one meter feeding into one Supply Meter Point. Therefore one MPRN will have two or more meter attached. Each meter could also have a convertor and daily read equipment (DRE/AMR) attached.
LPG
These sites are independent systems of small Liquid Propane Gas Networks serving communities not connected to the main gas transportation system. There are independent systems located in Scotland (Campbeltown, Oban, Thurso, Wick and Stornoway); Wales (Llanfyllin and Llanwrtyd Wells).
