4 June 2020

We are delighted to announce that Engage Consulting Limited has been appointed to the role of Allocation of Unidentified Gas Expert (AUGE) with effect from 1st June 2020, for a period of up to five years.

This appointment comes on the back of a competitive tendering process, and we would like to thank Shippers for all their time and input into the procurement process from start to finish.

What is an Allocation of Unidentified Gas Expert?

The AUGE undertakes expert analysis on the sources of UIG and, in consultation with the Industry, establishes a methodology for deriving UIG Weighting Factors for use in the following Gas Year.  The factors produced are used in Nomination, Allocation and Reconciliation to distribute UIG across different groups of sites based on their Settlement Class and End User Category (EUC).

John Peters, Managing Director at Engage, commented, “We are delighted to have been appointed as the AUGE.  We recognise that fair and equitable allocation of Unidentified Gas supports effective competition and we are committed to achieving this, impartially, through proactive stakeholder engagement and diligent application of our expertise. We very much look forward to working with Xoserve and serving all Industry stakeholders.”

What happens next?

“We are excited to start work with Engage Consulting this month on preparations for the Annual Unidentified Gas (AUG) Statement and Table for Gas Year 2021/22” comments Andrew Szabo, our Chief Customer Officer.

“We would like to thank DNV GL for all their work during the last four years as the AUGE.  Their final methodology and UIG Weighting Factors will take effect from 1st October 2020, and both documents can be found on the Joint Office website.

“If you have any questions about this Appointment and what it will mean to the Gas Industry, please contact our Analytical Services Team, or get in touch with your Xoserve Customer Advocate.”

Engage Consulting will be at the AUG Sub-Committee meeting on Friday 10th July.  You can find the details of that meeting on the Joint Office website

The service email address that Engage will use is auge@engage-consulting.co.uk.
