Dear Customer,

Unfortunately, as you may be aware Elexon experienced a cyber-attack as a result of phishing on Thursday 14th May. Elexon has subsequently identified the areas that the cyber-attack has impacted and can confirm that all BSC Central Systems and EMR are unaffected and working as normal.

I’m writing to provide you with details of the actions we’ve taken in response to this event, as well as to reinforce our continued commitment to the security of our customers and their data. We regularly monitor the threat landscape and were aware of the increase in phishing cyberattacks during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Following yesterday’s cyber-attack, we have been in contact with Elexon to understand the attack and offer support. I can confirm that Xoserve’s systems do not feature the same vulnerability that was exploited in the cyber-attack on Elexon, however we have taken precautionary actions to check our exposure and modify our threat response. We have also increased our communications to our teams to ensure that everyone is aware of the increased cyber-security threats.

I want to assure you that the security of our customers’ data and the continuation of service remain our top priorities and we will continue to monitor this situation, providing further updates as necessary. If you or any member of your security teams would like to discuss our approach to cyber-security in more detail please do not hesitate to contact me

Kind regards,

Andrew Szabo | Chief Customer Officer
